Tweet meet of date disasters
Twitter is one “inspiring place”. It is certainly one channel that gives youngsters new ideas each day. When author and musician Rhodri Marsden posted that single tweet about his disastrous first date, hundreds of others followed suit and shared their experiences of a similar horror. Youngsters too revealed their horrible experiences as they found Marsden’s act quite inspiring and an exciting way to put off their ex.
Bhavya Chaudhary, a B.Tech student at Indraprastha University, shares that she found the idea very liberating. “It is a subtle way to tell the other person that since it did not work out, there is no need to come back. If you do a similar thing in person, it becomes embarrassing for both. Here, posting your sentiments on Twitter saves you the pain of putting across your point directly,” says Bhavya.
Rohit Begani, another B.Tech student, feels he in a way saved his friends. “Posting my comments and experiences on Twitter is like maintaining a diary, albeit it is open for all to read. I found this to be a good way to warn my friends against the person who bored me. Now my close group of friends and I have made a pact to share our experiences on Twitter so that we don’t repeat each other’s mistakes.”
Khushbu Maheshwari, student of Kamla Nehru College, feels that people should be a little considerate. “Posting the details of your date could be funny, but people should keep in mind that they don’t criticise the person they are hanging out with. Why put the blame of failure on one person when you may also go wrong?” asks Khushbu.
