Staying on ‘top slot’ for more than a decade is not an easy task for any actress. But with her sheer talent and good looks, the South diva Trisha has achieved this distinction. The pretty lady has had her share of bouquets and brickbats in her ten years’ long journey in Indian cinema.
Trisha has shared screen space with almost all the top notch actors of Tamil and Telugu film industries. She also had a short stint in Bollywood opposite Akshay Kumar.
As we celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema, Trisha has been honored by SIIMA with a special award for her contribution to Tamil cinema — ‘10 Years of Dedication’ which will be presented to her at the extravagant SIIMA Awards to be held on September 12 and 13.
Speaking exclusively to this correspondent, Trisha said, “Firstly I would like to thank my fans because no matter what and irrespective of my hits, flops and misses they put me up there and always support me. Personally I couldn’t have done without my mum. She truly is my driving force. And my doggies who are my biggest stress buster. My family and friends who have never treated me like a star.â€
She adds, “Ten years, but sometimes I still feel like I came in just yesterday. That’s how much my line of work interests me. Hoping for another 10 years (smiles) I would attribute it to my choice of films, my directors who wrote scripts keeping me in mind, the fact that I have tried to balance mass and class, a whole load of luck, a wonderful mom to back me up and of course God’s blessingsâ€
The other two stars who are being honored at the event are ace actor Prabhu Ganesan with SIIMA Sri for his contribution to society.
Actress Kavya Madhavan who has completed more than a decade in Malayalam industry has been awarded ‘10 years of Dedication’.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
