Tournament for gaming addicts
Who would have thought that digital gaming would be so big one day that we might have a tournament for it? Well it’s true, as the concept of India Gaming Carnival (IGC) was recently announced in the capital to attract all the gaming enthusiasts and video\computer game experts in our country.
This concept is a brainchild of three young entrepreneurs Kushagra, Ankush Tripathi and Saurav Khurana, who founded WTF Eventz and decided to organise this gaming fest from April 6-8.
Kushagra, director of WTF Eventz, informs, “We have planned a three-day gaming carnival in April first weekend for all the gaming enthusiasts. There is no age limit and we are hoping that there will be more than 20,000 participants for this event. The IGC will be held at the 22 acres gaming arena at Ayatti Hotel in Greater Noida.”
The founders of this fest are planning a pan India promotion so that more and more people can participate in this. Says Ankush Tripathi, “We will have seven categories of digital games in IGC, where participants can win `1.5 crore worth prize money. The seven categories of games are — Rangers, Stalwarts, Formidable Strike, Lion’s Den, T-Maniacs, Lion’s Den and Random Players. We haven’t set any age limit, because games are for everyone and anyone.”
“It is a known fact that most of us are addicted to some or the other game on our cell phones, PSPs or some other gaming consoles, so why not promote it and make a contest out of it? We have done our research and we feel that since we are a country of young minds, we should have games that interest our youth. It is a concept that will surely appeal to a lot of people,” adds Saurav Khurana of WTF Eventz.
