A tour of Asia through words
After a particularly intense work week there’s nothing quite as welcoming as a beautifully crafted online word games site, such as www.wordgames.com. How exactly do these incredibly well done games come to be online, completely free, and so easily accessible?
The navigation bar promised eight categories and hours of delightful game play. Impatient to get into the thick of it, I clicked on the Daily Word Search panel instead, and opted for the medium intensity version. The 15x15 alphabet grid contained 15 countries of Asia. All I had to do was find them in quick time, and follow through with a boastful score post on facebook, and then challenge a friend to a play-off.
A good six minutes later I had ferretted out 14 of the 15 Asian countries. Brunei eluded me, possibly because I realised late into the fifth minute that India didn’t feature on the list at all. Curious, I logged out of the game, and took a look at the ‘hard’ version of the same game. A 20x20 grid this time around, and many more Asian countries to be found. No India again! Setting that curious anomaly aside, I browsed wordgames.com some more, and was absolutely delighted with all I discovered.
