Tinsel town hits rule party charts
With New Year’s Eve just a couple of days away, pubs and restaurants are all geared up to set a perfect party scene for the big night. And just like every year, to pump up the volume, the city’s DJs are cashing in on popular desi tracks to make your spirits soar till the wee hours of the morning. While Kolaveri di and Chammak Challo top the charts, adding to the list of most played songs is also Katrina Kaif’s Chikini Chameli. DJ Parveen from Urban Café says, “I will be playing Kolaveri and Chammak Challo every two hours. These songs were a rage this year.”
DJ Ebony from Australia will be playing at Second Sin and plans to belt out hit Bollywood tracks. “Besides Kolaveri and Chammak, I will be playing pop number Subah Hone Na De from Desi Boys and tracks from Rockstar. I have a sports bar in Austarlia, where many Indians come. They request me to play all the popular Indian songs, so I know the ‘hit’ list. I’m a big fan of Hindi music and l Iove Shah Rukh Khan,” she adds.
With the standard few party songs, the list of hits will also include songs like Bhaag DK Bose, Saddha Haq and Vidya Balaan Ohh-lala.
“These are all party numbers that the crowd will expect us to play,” says DJ Bhahvak from Keya.
He adds, “It’s very important for DJs to interact with the crowd to set the right mood. I’ve tried to assemble a good variety of songs in my collection including slow and fast tempos, vocals and instrumentals, celebratory and contemplative moods.”
Bringing back old memories , DJ Ashish from The Second Sin is planning to set the mood with classics. “Retros are all-time party favourites. I will start the evening with classic club remixes like Jahan Teri Yeah Nazaar Hai, Laila O Laila. These songs bring back memories. The main hits from this year are of course Sheila Ki Jawani, Munni Badnaam and Chiknni Chameli,” he adds.
And besides our desi tracks, David Guetta’s and Pitbull’s numbers are going to amp up the party atmosphere. “I will be playing Pitbull’s Give Me Everything Tonight and Let It Rain. Then there will also be Club Can’t Handle Me by David Guetta and Move Like A Jagger by Christina Agulera,” says DJ Elan who will be playing at Leela Kempinski
