Texting gives men the jitters
What do you think is the most difficult part of dating for men? No, it’s not dressing right for a candlelit dinner, neither is it striking an impressive conversation. Believe it or not, according to a recent survey, texting is the most difficult part of dating for men. Yes, getting those few right words to express how your feel about the love of your life is what men feel is a “task to accomplish”.
That’s why 21-year-old student Aseem Sachdeva avoids SMSing, and instead prefers to make a call. “Trust me, texting is actually a tough thing to do. I rarely send an SMS, and whenever I do, I reframe it a million times. There is this dilemma, if you are straightforward you sound boring, and if you are trying to be quirky you end up sounding silly,” he laughs.
According to the survey, a poorly composed message or a misunderstood punctuation mark can sabotage even the most innocent affairs. Therefore, the biggest dilemma faced here is making the decision of what to write and when, found the survey.
Aseem’s friend Faizan Ali shares his fear of the written word. “The scary part of texting for me is that my boring text will remain there forever in her inbox. And she and her friends will fish it out whenever they want and laugh it off,” he says.
“Many of my friends write perky messages and use their skill to win over their girlfriends. I am a pro at SMSing too, but am not confident about my writing skills,” says Anil Sharma, 24, a young professional.
