Tee party after sunset
The gentleman’s game has found many takers in the city in recent times. Golf, that till sometime back was just confined to some, is now making its way into the lives of many. Recently, Unitech Golf and Country Club hosted a “night golfing” event.
To make it easier for people who are busy through the day and can’t take out time during the weekends, night golfing seems to be a viable solution.
An official from Unitech says that golf has found many takers among the youth and thus, requires newer ideas to suit their lifestyles. “Many young professionals have taken up golf as a stress-buster activity. But it’s practically not possible for them to wake up early morning to play it. Night golfing is an answer to that. Looking at the demand, we plan to develop a night golfing site at all our properties,” says the official.
Many enthusiasts think with the hectic work schedule, more such interesting concepts are going to come up. Golfer Rishi Narain talks about playing golf with glow balls after sunset. “It’s a concept that has worked well for many who love playing golf but are unable to take out time in the daytime,” he remarks and adds that other options like golf simulator that gives an option to play indoor golf too has become very popular.
Narain says that looking at the popularity of golf, many clubs across Delhi-NCR now have installed golf simulators.
College student Vani Tripathi, who got introduced to golf a few years ago, is happy with the new options. “It’s not really possible to go to a golf course every time. I love golf because it helps you focus yourself in whatever you do. The thrill of analysing your each shot as you play the round is exhilarating. The multiple options available now have made me very happy,” she says.
Experts think that people are embracing the alternate options for playing golf because of long hours required (about five hours) for playing it, the non-availability of places to play and adverse weather conditions.
Rohit Duggal, director, Rohman Resources, (Gspot), exclusive distributors of golf simulator, says, “Requiring only about 300 sq ft, simulators take care of the issues of weather, space availability and time required. Schools, colleges and management institutes opt for it as a co-curricular activity, and corporates as stress-busters for staff,” says Rohit.
So long, play it up guys!
