Soulful jugalbandi enthralls fans
A soulful sufi evening took the city audience through a journey where traditional sufi notes were given a contemporary touch by fusing them with pulsating western beats. Bollywood singer Kavita Seth, maestro of composing and rhythm Bickram Ghosh and sufi singer Parvati Kumari created a ‘Sufusion’ musical symphony for the Delhiwallas.
“In our new musical concept, various sufi styles merged with refreshing new-age rhythm-heavy sounds, which made us connect with the youngsters instantly. Age-old Sufiyana tradition was given a new lease of life through technology-induced sound designing,” shared Ghosh. Sufusion merges the intricacies of philosophy with the immediacy of rhythm, seamlessly, believes Ghosh.
Singer Kavita Seth of Tumhi of Bandhu and Iktara fame said, “While improvising the beats, we ensured that the essence of Sufi music — to touch one’s soul was retained.” On popular demand the singer presented her recently released Murabba song from Bombay Talkies, and Iktara among others at the evening organised by Legends of India.
