Sonam makes her Tamil foray
Sonam Kapoor is finally making her foray into K’Town with the dubbed version of her Hindi flick, Raanjhanaa, which, in turn, marks the debut of Dhanush in B’town. The Tamil version is called Ambikapathy. It is produced by Eros International and directed by Anand L. Rai, with dialogues by John Mahendran.
Sonam says she is quite thrilled to make her entry into the Tamil film industry through Ambikapathy. A film with Dhanush with a musical score by Oscar-winning A.R.Rahman, “what more could I ask for,” she says. “Thanks are due to my director Anand L. Rai. I am eagerly waiting like everybody else for the first day first show of Ambikapathy.”
Sonam points out that many of the stars she admires — Jayapradha, Hema Malini, Waheeda Rehman, Vaijayantimala and Sridevi — began their career in Tamil films. “I am not sure how many of them know that my father, Anil Kapoor, was introduced by director Mani Ratnam in a Kannada movie called Pallavi Anupallavi,” Sonam said. Dhanush is equally excited.
“The reason I have reached this escalated level is because of the love from my Tamil audience; they have felt and lived every character I have portrayed, cried and laughed with me. I have implemented the role with core intensity as a performer, in Ambikapathy too.”
