Shehnai, sharara and Saifeena
She came, she tripped, regained her composure and conquered hearts with her infectious smile. Soha Ali Khan who walked the ramp for designer Vikram Phadnis at Bengaluru, looked ravishing. As buzz on brother Saif Ali Khan’s wedding surmounts, we get it straight from the horse’s mouth on what’s going on behind the scenes.
Confessing to not really getting involved in the wedding paraphernalia, Soha says, “My mum’s a control freak, so she ends up doing the whole planning thing. I’m the youngest and the least responsible child in the family, which is why no one has given me anything to do. I must add that I’m the most balanced person in the family. Saba is the introvert while Saif is the most outgoing person. My balance comes from a certain element of detachment, as I live in Mumbai.”
Adding on the number of outfits for each of the wedding functions, Soha says, “There are a number of different functions in store. The final ones are being drawn by mom. Both Saif and Kareena are still deciding on the functions and also the outfits for each. Ritu Kumar has designed 12 kurtis. Also she is recreating some ghararas. We have inherited some really gorgeous 100-year-old ghararas, which my mom wants all of us to wear — Kareena, Saba and me. If we don’t wear these now, we will never be able to wear them later, as they are really old and will just fall apart. Once the bride and the groom finalise on the functions, we will choose ours accordingly.”
Confirming that she’s not tying the knot soon, Soha shares, “I will let everyone know when I decide. There’s too much of focus right now on this marriage in the family. I think it will last till the next year. Right now I’m very happy the way Sahib Biwi aur Gangster 2 has turned. I’m also doing Char Futiya Chor. ”
Adding on how her passion for dressing up has changed over the years, she says, “My style is casual and sporty. I have now started dressing up and being careful in picking up stuff. I plan beforehand on what I’m wearing and don’t take more than 20 minutes to get dressed for a party. I studied in London, so I was high street fashion conscious. For me it was more about fitting in rather than standing out. Being in the limelight now has made me conscious, as I’m under constant scrutiny.”
