Running made fun
From beginning to end, Rayman Legends is one of the best platformers to come out in recent years. A beautiful art design coupled with masterfully crafted levels means there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Rayman Legends follows the success of Rayman Origins and its tradition of excellent platforming. The game is divided into worlds — each with its own unique art style, themes, selection of levels and heroes for you to unlock. During these levels, you need to rescue Teensies which are needed for you to unlock more levels and worlds. While each level has eight of them for you to find, two of them are hidden behind secret doors and require clever platforming puzzle solving.
Gameplay in Rayman Legends is fairly standard. You run, jump and occasionally hit enemies. You will also make use of the interact button, which is helpful in cutting ropes, relocating platforms and tickling enemies for you to punch. But it takes such simple tasks and turns them into exhilarating set-pieces, something any big budget game will be envious of. The sense of speed while moving and jumping, and hitting the occasional enemy, is what Rayman Legends is best at.
If you finish all the main missions, there are plenty of unlockables to keep you occupied. A selection of levels from Rayman Origins, a football themed mini-game, daily and weekly challenges - and bonus levels in every world will make sure Rayman Legends stays in your disk slot. With so much variety, and a level design which makes simple tasks such as running and jumping way more fun than they have the right to. Rayman Legends is the new king of platformers.
