You do not have to be a celebrity to have your own red carpet moment. With the art of dressing right for your body type, here’s how you can also master the art of corrective makeup that camouflages imperfections and enhances your best features making you look slimmer. Ishika Taneja, beauty expert, India Salon Pro Team gives a lowdown into looking slim with corrective make up.

Golden glow
Makeup has some incredible benefits. With the right products, colours and techniques, you can conceal your weaknesses just right. Contouring your cheek bones with a darker colour than its original tone gives a slimming effect. Try a darker colour on the shoulders, below the waist and legs will really slim you down. Shaded tans are really in for the season where you can strategically colour the side of your legs, waist and arms a little darker than the other areas. This can help elongate the legs, thin down the thighs, reduce flabby arms making it sleeker, and enhance the waistline while giving it a natural and golden glow.

Face facts
Go in for bronzing to frame your face with the help of a bronzer. Apply the bronzer by framing your face near your hairline and jawline. Create sculpted cheekbones or hide double chin after understanding a few high and low points on your face. It is crucial to know where to shade or contour and where to highlight for a balanced effect. Get three shades of foundation or base of the same brand, one to two shades lighter and darker than your original colour. The idea is to use dark colours to thin down the areas where it is applied and the lighter colours to enhance and bring the area forward. If you wish to downplay your double chin, apply a darker colour on your jawline blending into the neck. The illusion of depth will give your face definition making it look slimmer. In order to narrow your forehead, use one shade darker foundation to create a shadow effect around the temples. Slimming down the nose by shading the sides a little darker while keeping the centre light will make it appear thinner. We all crave to have chiselled cheekbones and to achieve this look, suck in your cheekbones to make an ‘O’, apply this from the hollow to the corner in a line. Apply lighter colour or highlighting powder on the highest plane of the cheek to enhance it even further. It is important to know that the products you choose for contouring and shading your skin in a darker tone have to be of a matte finish. And the products used for highlighting can have a little sheen or gloss effect.

Eye do
Overplay the eyes by maximising the lashes, adding kohl, and coloured eyeliner and mascara to draw all the attention away from your flaws. Make sure your lips look fuller by applying foundation or powder on it. Apply the lip shade of a similar colour or lighter. On the centre of the lip, put a lighter shade with gloss, for a glam
pout.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
