Rapper on a roll to stop child labour

It is noteworthy that young musicians are making an effort to highlight the harsh realities of modern India. Prozpekt, India’s first socio-political rapper, has just released a new rap song and video about child labour and poverty titled Vijay, made in association with the international charity organisation Save The Children.
Prozpekt, also known as Krishna Kaul, has been creating rap music on socially sensitive themes for a few years now. “This is the first ever rap song on the socially sensitive theme of child labour in a bid to create awareness amongst the masses. Pondering over the inequities in the country, one day I decided to weave a rap song around these grim realities so that it comes to the attention of people,” says Kaul.
Talking about the response his new upload is getting on YouTube, Kaul says his purpose is somewhat achieved. “I’ve been getting fabulous response from a wide cross-section of people who have appreciated the whole idea. I personally believe that music knows no caste, colour, sex or any other distinction and therefore can’t be confined to a particular strata,” he adds.
The song is in Hindi, thereby breaking the language barriers which stop other rap songs, usually in English, from reaching a large number of people.
