Rant sites become a rage with netizens
First there were status messages. You could rant there and all your friends would know and sympathise with you. But that is changing. With more people becoming active on Twitter and Facebook, the rant platform has officially become dangerous. What if your boss is on facebook and twitter and sees what you’ve ranted about him?
The recent incident of a waitress being fired at a restaurant for ranting on Facebook has thrown the spotlight on rant sites like www.fmylife.com and www.lifesucksbigtime.com. These are websites dedicated to all those frustrated souls, who just want to let off steam. And what’s most attractive — it offers anonymity.
“Rant sites are amazing because they not only make you feel better after your rant, but people comment on it too. They let you know how their life is worse, which makes you feel much better,” Swati Ramesh, a student says.
So, if you aren’t satisfied with a rant, you can pick a fight on the comment box or just tell them your life is worse. Achyut Gupta says, “Rant sites are useful when you want to maintain your nice-boy/girl image. Of course, it’s also to stop you from getting beaten up by your boss.”
