Randeep’s on a career high

Actor Randeep Hooda, who hardly did 10 movies in the first decade of his career after he debuted with Monsoon Wedding in 2001, was seen in four films including Cocktail and Heroine in 2012. But 2013 is going to be big for him as around seven of his films are set to release, the first one being Murder 3 slated for release this Friday.

He confesses that he is taking up more projects than ever before. Plus, he is not looking for character roles anymore. He is happy being a part of the commercial cinema. He says, till the first 10 years of his career, he was somewhere looking for a “perfect movie and a perfect role”. But then he realised that nothing like that exists.
“I guess I have understood that perfection comes mostly by accident. I have also observed that those very people with whom I wanted to work and do different cinema are out to do commercial films. Then I decided to do all kind of films and thought during the course I might achieve what I have desired to,” he says.
Coming back to his upcoming release Murder 3, Randeep says that when he was roped in for the film, he wasn’t aware that it was a part of the Murder films. “I was told the story and shown the original movie — The Hidden Face (a Spanish thriller). They asked me if I’d like to do the movie. Since I really liked it, we started shooting and it was later that I got to know it’s going to be Murder 3,” reveals Randeep, who is happy with the way the film has turned out.
His last two movies — Jannat 2 and Jism 2 — with the Bhatt camp did well on the box office and he wanted to continue the association. “It made more sense to do Murder after two hits with them. And I guess it were the Bhatts who wanted me in the movie more than me. It was their call to cast me,” he says and adds that Vishesh Bhatt, the director of the film, has done a good job. “It doesn’t seem this is his first directorial venture,” he says, as he also adds that even Sara Loren, the Pakistani actress, his intimate scenes with whom are making news, has also done a “wonderful” job.
The actor is looking forward to his other releases in the year that include Ungli, Fanne Khan among others. However, besides Murder 3, it’s Karan Johar’s Bombay Talkies opposite Rani Mukerji that is keeping Randeep in news these days. “Yes, we have almost completed shooting for this film. But I don’t have the permission to divulge many details about it,” he signs off.
