Rajini’s next with Mani Ratnam?
For most Kollywood directors, to have ‘Rajinikanth’ on the CV is to have arrived. No two ways about it. But of late, given his precarious health condition, the Superstar’s acting career has had to take a back seat. His choice of films has been a lot more constrained, with Kochadaiyaan being the only current project.
Now comes the news that there is the possibility of Mr. Robot himself offering his services to a select director. DC has learnt from sources in ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s office that the Superstar has initiated talks with Mani on a new project.
Mani Ratnam, who is currently in the process of releasing the audio for his upcoming magnum opus, Kadal, did one film, Thalapathi, with Rajinikanth two decades ago, which was set in a contemporary milieu at the time of its release and was a critical and commercial success.
This new development comes as the most pleasant surprise for fans who have had to accustom themselves to Rajini’s tendency to decline offers, considerably reducing his output over the years.
To add a twist in the tale, only a few days ago, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, whose cult classic, Nayagan, with Mani Ratnam completed 25 years, expressed an inclination to collaborate with the latter once again.
This could very well turn out to be quite a few interesting months ahead for Mani!
