‘Raj’ of all trades
You’ve seen him play a menacing villain, a spectacular protagonist and even an overbearing father. When it comes to versatility, there’s no one quite like namma Prakash Raj. After displaying his acting prowess down South, the actor has now taken Bollywood by storm. He’s creating waves with his performance as bad man Jaykant Shikre in Singham.
How has the response been to his latest act? “It’s been wonderful. The people in Mumbai are very warm and I’m happy that they’ve loved my work.”
How different is Bollywood from the South? “For me, all the productions, whether it was Wanted, Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap or Singham, were great. They had passionate and focused teams and I didn’t find much of a difference.”
While he’s entertained the southern audiences with diverse roles, he’s mostly played villain in Bollywood. What more can we expect from him in B-Town? “I don’t know what’s in store. They’ve just accepted me. I don’t know what’s expected out of me.”
The actor dubs for himself in Hindi too. “I’ve learnt the language along the course of my career.” And no, conversing with his choreographer wife Pony Verma had nothing to do with improving his Hindi! “I talk to her only to communicate with her, not to learn the language!”
