This could be a coup of sorts, if industry sources are to be believed! According to the latest buzz in tinsel town, the Mozart of Madras has been working in stealth mode. A.R. Rahman has been on a secret assignment since the last few weeks as he is launching his 10-year-old Ameen in a film produced by his newly floated banner.
The movie is said to be about kids and hence the Oscar winner’s decision to bring his son in front of the camera in a key role. Rahman is said to have gone on record in some of the Mumbai-based tabloids as well. However, Rahman’s official spokesperson categorically denied any such move and ruled out the reports as rumours.
But a close source says that Ameen was recently in Mumbai, shooting for a music video for a peppy number which was his dad’s composition.
Sources also confirmed that the Jai Ho composer is venturing into production to make quality films of international standard and has started a company in his son Ameen’s name, looking to announce his debut film soon.
Singing is not new to Jr Rahman or for that matter Rahman’s eldest daughter Katheeja. While Ameen has sung a part of a track Na Na in Rahman’s Hollywood flick Couples Retreat, Katheeja was roped in for Rajini-starrer Endhiran, for the chartbuster song Pudhiya Manidha. In an earlier interview to this newspaper, Rahman had said, “Couples Retreat my first Hollywood film in mainstream cinema is very special as my son Ameen who is just six and a half years has sung a track.”
