Prêt & pretty in porcelain
Portugese by birth, and raised in South America, in a wealthy business family, Manoel Filipe Pereira left the trappings of his environment to follow his passion. He mixed two of the most exquisite things — art and porcelain to create something graceful and beautiful. One of the few people across the world to pursue porcelain art, Filipe has created a niche for himself in the industry.
Zarin Wadia, of Hand and Heart Gallery, claims that Filipe is the undisputed “man with the magic wand” which he wields in lieu of his paintbrush. “Being a porcelain artist myself, I am amazed at his adept movement and his phenomenal mastery. His painting is usually a one-fire technique. The average American artist takes three fires for a complete piece!” says Zarin. The artist’s works are on display in Mumbai next month.
