Glam, Bollywood and social cause have come together as the theme for the special edition calendars for the year 2012. For instance, in its 10th year, the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar’s 2012 edition brought back more glam and excitement as it was shot at the idyllic location of Sri Lanka.
Photographer Atul Kasbekar shares, “Over the years, Kingfisher has been providing a platform for emerging talent including Katrina Kaif, Nargis Fakhri and Nathalia Pinheiro. The calendar comprises of amazing bikini shots amidst sand, water, natural surroundings and open sky.”
Then there is Inega Calendar 2012, shot by ace lens man Prasad Naik, is a reminder of the monthly observances, such as child labour, World Cancer Day, World Peace Day, International day against homophobia and more such causes affecting the society in modern times. The black-and-white calendar highlights 12 social causes shot artistically with top models and designers.
Interestingly, the British Council Calendar focuses on art, education and India-UK relationship.
It will reflect the idea and knowledge between the two world’s biggest democracies. To be launched in January first week, in-house professionals, graphic designers and photographers will do the calendar.
Being the oldest calendar with more than decade’s experience, Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar, like every year will feature 12 actors and actresses.
Beside the regulars, Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan, 2012 will feature Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor, and actress Anushka Sharma as well.
“I always like to explore new trends of photography and rediscover myself through my calendar. This time I want to shoot my regular stars in a completely new avatar. Something that’s not done before,” adds Dabboo.
The Italian coffee company Lavazza has unveiled the 2012 edition of its collectible calendar. And to celebrate the 20th edition, Lavazza has used 12 photographers who had shot previous calendars, asking them to create a self-portrait. The cover of the 2012 calendar features an Ellen von Unwerth photograph of Valerie van der Graaf. The young Dutch model was chosen because this is the 20th year of the Lavazza Calendar and Valerie is also 20 years old.
Francesca Lavazza, corporate Image director of the group said, “In this edition, we wanted great photographers to create self-portraits inspired by our espresso. The result is truly exciting.”
