Play, win, connect

When it comes to games, you know you have the attention of many netizens. But what if you offer these games on social networking sites so you can play and socialise simultaneously? Games like Mafia Wars 2, Dunkin' Donuts, Miami Heat, and Godfather Five Families and Back to the Future serve a double delight by giving the gaming experience on a social media platform. Zynga, Facebook, kabam.com and sticksports. com are some such websites to scour.
Don Corleone’s persona will now dominate the virtual world as The Godfather comes alive onscreen. The official website has already clocked over six lakh fans in just a week. The game will let the player assume roles of the iconic Corleone family and allow players to interact with each other through chats and messages. The classic Back to the Future trilogy is ranked as an online favourite, mainly because the proceeds of registration will go to the Micheal J Fox Foundation. Avid gamers are thrilled at the prospect of combining gaming and social networking. Arjun Vaidyanathan, marketing manager and self-confessed gamer says, “The beauty of social games is they are easily accessible and portable–something traditional gaming consoles lacked. Now, with social media games, you can play with people from anywhere in the world.”
Through these games, you can network with thousands of gaming enthusiasts and online groups. Though the experience cannot always match up to a traditional video game setup, the virtual experience is just as exciting. Design student Neharika says, “It’s amazing how novel the experience is. I can’t wait for the movie games to come out, Godfather is a classic and I want to see how iconic characters like The Don and Micheal Corleone have been designed.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
