The first round of DU placements ended with maximum students recruited among good companies with the highest package touching `10 lakh.
With SRCC receiving the best packages, around 102 students have been placed so far including two students recruited with Citibank with a package of `10 lakh. P.C. Around six students from SRCC are placed with Bain & Company with a package of `8.5 lakh, two are placed with Essex with `8.5 lakh and two students got recruited with Mckinsey Knowledge Centre with an annual package of `7.5 lakh to 9.5 lakh.
Aditya Narayan, third year B.Com student, SRCC, is among the two students who are recruited with Citibank. “This year, the placements package bracket started from `3.5 lakh onwards. I’m really excited about getting placed with Citibank. It’s a popular company name and has offered a good profile with amazing package. It gives me a better degree of confidence and life security,” says Aditya. And with regular companies like Ernst & Young, KPMG, Google and Deloitte have already recruited the maximum number of students, many new companies, including a Japanese organisation called ‘Uniqlo’ have also made it to the campus this year. But as the first semester exam for this annual session is on, many colleges like Gargi, Kirori Mal, Hans Raj are waiting and have invited bigger companies for a second round around January and February.
Sanjay Batra, placement consultant, Shri Venkateshwara College says, “Out of 125 registered students, 25 commerce and economics student have been placed with companies like Google, Deloitte and Ernst & Young. Till now, three students have been placed with Variety Knowledge Solutions for the highest package of `5.5 lakh per annum. While 20 students have been selected for Deloitte and Ernst & Young with the package of `4.5 lakh, few have been roped in by Google with annual package of `3 lakh. We’re looking forward for bigger companies in January.”
In Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, 15 students have received confirmation with a package of `2.5 lakh from Ernst & Young.
Dr Neeru Kapoor, placement incharge, DCAC says, “Besides the regular companies, new companies like Cians Analytics, Mileston Caves Private limited also came with best offers. But, semester system has really affected the placement procedure this year. As November-December used to be the peak time for placements, due to exam, it’s delayed for a month.”
Though students are content, they’re awaiting better opportunities. Tanya Malhotra, student, Shri Venkateshwara College, who got picked up by Deloitte for a package of `4.2 lakh, hopes for better offer. “As Deloitte is among the best tax-auditing firm in the country, I am quite content with the placement for now. But waiting for something better.” Seconds Simi Wison, final year student, DCAC, who is appointed for Ernst & Young in insurance department. “As I’m a Actuarial Science student, I was looking something in that area. So, I am waiting for the second round!”
