Pampered pooches get trendy raincoats

Whoever said ‘it’s a dog’s life’ should rethink because the good times for these four-legged creatures is just getting better. This monsoon, dogs are enjoying the showers in colourful raincoats. In many pet shops this year, dog raincoats are in high demand and there’s quite a variety to choose from.
Aditya Kapur, owner of Party Hunterz, a pet shop in Kailash Colony says, “We have colourful raincoats for pets in our shop. There are also windcheaters for dogs that prevent them from catching chill. There are various sizes available for different breeds of dogs. Usually many young people buy these accessories to make their dogs look cute. Sometimes when a dog has to be taken to a monsoon party or somewhere near water bodies, the owners come and ask for these raincoats.”
R.K. Gupta, owner of Bittoo pet shop in Khan Market, says, “For the past few years there has been a marked increase in dog accessories tailored for specific weather. People who like to pamper their pets buy raincoats and sweaters during the monsoon. We sell imported varieties of dog raincoats, which are available in bright colours.”
Raincoats for dogs are not just cute, but also help them brave the rains. Diyva Aggarwal, MBA student and dog lover, says, “I have a cocker spaniel and he hates getting drenched in the rain as its fur gets completely soaked. So, this time I bought him a raincoat and it not only protects him from getting wet when it pours but he also looks really adorable in the bright yellow get-up.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
