Pacman lookalike to rescue turtles
The Olive Ridley Turtle has been on the radar of the endangered list for quite some time and recent reports speak a lot about the grave danger that these turtles are facing. However, a new game inspired by the world-famous game Pacman hopes to create awareness among people to save the endangered species of turtles and their natural habitat.
Called Turtle vs Tata, the game, which was launched recently, is inspired by Tata’s 300 ports in Dhamra, Orissa. These ports, which are located very close to mangroves, (a breeding ground for a lot of fauna including the Olive Ridley turtles) have put this biodiversity hotspot in grave danger. “The aim is to prevent another Dhamra destroying the natural habitat of these turtles,” says Greenpeace India, which has developed the game, in a statement.
“It is a simple game and has been developed on the lines of Pacman. We just thought that an online game would be a good idea to promote the game and hopefully reach out to more people,” says Avijit Michael of Greenpeace, who has been a part of the developing team of the game.
The game has registered more than 3,000 hits so far, and hopes to reach to a larger number of people soon.
