Office-goers hooked on to cricket applications
Exams come twice every year, but World Cup happens only once in four.â Those facing TV curfew due to Boards might not find much solace in such parent-defying logics to chuck study for matches. And those stuck at work too find that Excel sheets get tougher to decipher when the âManhattan graphâ or run-rate is the only thing stuck on their head. This is the season when those stuck to their workstations and study-tables find ingenious ways to follow matches. And taking refuge in the virtual World Cup games and apps is one option they often resort to.
Some apps that provide highlights and real-time score updates are the next best thing to watching the action live. Rahber Lateef, executive at Metlife, avers, âI have applications like Cricket Reloaded and Cricket Fact And Stats that keep updating the score and statistics as the match goes on, but the best is the ICC WC 2011 on my iPhone wherein the uploaded highlights can be watched. During Indiaâs matches, however, we either leave office early or catch the death overs at the tea-stall nearby.â
The Blackberry revolution has swept over young entrepreneurs and when in office they seek solace in an array of free games and apps like Ultimate Cricket â11 World Cup Edition and Cricket Club that are available for the gadget. Puneet Sehijpal, management trainee with HCL, informs, âDuring meetings and presentations when getting away to check the score becomes impossible, I keep a track of the score on my Blackberry. Itâs not that we will get âcaughtâ or something, because even bosses are aware that during matches the attention of the entire workforce is on scorecard widgets and cricket portals.â
Interestingly, cricket-based Websites and apps keep cricket crazy junta company during studies too.
