NY designer fights bullying
Since it is the season of celebrating fashion, a guest celebrity designer from New York visited the capital to take a quick round of what’s haute in the Indian fashion fraternity. Recently, the toast of the town was designer Rachel Roy, who amidst luncheons and formal dinners squeezed out time to launch her diamond jewellery collection for Forevermark Promise exhibition.
The designer revealed that her association with this charitable cause is a very “dear one” as she specially created a body chain. Speaking about her design, Rachel said, “The body chain is something feminine and delicate that wraps around your body and symbolises how women take care of everyone around them. The diamonds in the piece represent special moments in our lives and the evil eye is a symbol to ward off any negativity in life.”
Speaking about her anti-bullying campaign in America, Rachel revealed, “October is anti-bullying month, and keeping that in mind I designed special tees with messages like — ‘I don’t date bullies’ and ‘Bullying is not fashionable’. I grew up in a very rough neighbourhood in California and my brother is gay so we faced bullying and that’s why I wanted to do something about this.”
The designer was visiting the country for the second time and this time she even got her 12-year-old daughter along with her.
