‘Nothing in life is easy’
She has a perfect 10 figure, we all know. But many may not be keeping a count of the number of years she’s already spent in the tinselville.
Well, Bollywood bombshell Katrina Kaif has just completed a decade in the entertainment industry. Prod her to summarise the journey so far and she says, “It has indeed been a trip to treasure. I feel immensely blessed to have been able to shine bright with the roles that fell into my kitty and to have worked with the kind of people I have till date. Guess, I was born with a lucky star.”
From being a model on the runway with zero knowledge in Hindi to an accomplished star-actor in performance-oriented roles, Kat has come a long way. But how has been the slogging phase to tide over her shortcomings, if any? “Well, every chosen sphere doles out its own share of struggles and hardships. The deal is — if you don’t sweat it out, you won’t succeed,” she says.
“Nothing in life is served easy on the platter. One has to fight her way out to acquire the set goals. I think to bring out the best in your work; you should compete only with yourself and try to emulate your last best performance. To be honest, I’m still growing with each step taken forward,” she adds.
Many Bollywood beauties are doing a slew of derring-do stunts on screen. While Piggy Chops has earlier led the way in SRK’s Don and Don 2, now it’s Katrina’s turn to bring on the heat in the much-touted December release Dhoom3. But for those not in the loop, Kat has already walked the tight-rope of action sequences in Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger and took the plunge in the deep blue sea for an adventurous under-water diving in Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara.
For grasping heavy-duty stunts in Dhoom3, Katrina who is cast opposite Aamir Khan had to pick up paragliding lessons. With Mr Perfectionist by her side in this slick flick, what else could have this sultry chick expected otherwise?
When probed how important is it for the heroines to pulloff action sequences and stunts in movies nowadays, she says, “I feel that actresses today are trying out action sequences not just because the script demands it but also because a lot of them actually find it really exciting and thrilling. And that includes yours truly as well.”
Currently her hands seem to be pretty full with a couple of plum projects like Bombay Talkies, Dhoom 3 and Bang Bang.
Calling her mother her greatest inspiration on earth, Katrina pays her gratitude by acknowledging the fact that, “I am what I am today because of all the hardwork that she has put in my upbringing. We are seven siblings and I’m sure it was a tough task to manage everyone but my mother did a brilliant job. It was really difficult to parry her fault-finding eagle-eyes, yet she made sure that we had loads of fun without a hitch.”
