No one does it like ‘Djoker’

Some say that even the Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova couldn’t do a better impersonation of herself. Such is the skill of the Serbian Novak Djokovic. And the videos of him pulling a fast one on the pretty tennis star at a recent press conference stand as a testament to that.
Though his penchant for micmicing fellow players is well-known and has often left match audience in splits, this video that has Djokovic turning up on stage as Maria Sharapova in a blonde wig and an accent, is a rage on the Web. It is also special as halfway through his act, Maria appears on the stage to question his antics. YouTube has been abuzz with comments from fans. Sharapova4eva, says, “LOL!!! I love this whole Maria/Novak promotional campaign! They should always do this kind of stuff, it's so funny and I LOVE them both - my two favourite players! <3 Novak is absolutely hilarious and I laughed so hard when Maria says she doesn’t do that anymore and Novak’s voice goes all high and he’s like YOU DO THAT!!! And then when Novak said his ball-bouncing is boring and Maria goes “I think it is for everyone.”
Fans in the city too love the funny side of the talented tennis player. “No one can do it better than him, even Maria could see the funny side of it,” says Kundan Nathani, a Human Rights student.
“Even other players like Andy Roddick add some fun element to their matches, but ‘Djoker’ just takes it to another level,” says Surya Ranjan, an avid tennis follower. Commenting on the chemistry between the two players, he adds, “It was also nice to see to see how endearingly Maria reacted to the wig and the accent he put on.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
