‘No censors work in real settings’

You may not like it, but you certainly can’t ignore it. After all, the credit for making their precious find, pornstar Sunny Leone a household name and carving a career for the likes of Rakhi Sawant and Veena Malik goes to the show.

High on realities too harsh, be it generous usage of profanities and swear words or steamy onscreen romance, the sixth edition of the Bigg Boss is just back on the prime time.
While the controversy is its USP, could the reality show be tailored into a family-oriented one, as is being claimed by the highest-paid TV host and the only attraction of the show, Salman Khan.
Those who have lived in the house believe that the show has always been projected as a fit-for-prime-time, and first few episode may stick to the diktats, if any have been put in place, but reality will get on to the contestants soon.
Former Bigg Boss contestent, Bhojpuri starlet Sambavana Seth, who was a real motormouth on the show, is still not over the shock she got on hearing catchphase “Tere Ma Ki Youth” as coined by contestant Sapna Bhavnani on the day-one of the show.
“Who doesn’t know what it actually intends? I have used the ‘real ones’, and not mere intenders on the show. Now, what kind of diktats have they put in place, I don’t understant,” she says.
“Infact, no censors will work in real settings. People may act too good for the first few episodes, but coming weeks are set to expose them completely. With so many women there, catfights of the worst kind will happen,” she adds.
Seconds another ex-contestant and actor Ravi Kissan, who feels that the selection of the contestants this season is apt and controversies are bound to brew. “The show reveals true human nature, and no one can put a check on it. With people from varied backgrounds and temperaments, how will you put a check on their acts?” he says.
Ex-Bigg Boss contestant, former Miss World turned actress, Diana Hayden managed her graceful presence in the show. She feels that there is no need of any diktats, good editing skills are enough to get the results. “They will know what all they have to show. This is not a live show. All they need is 20 hours of footage, and the three months of stay in the house are really boring. Depending on the TRPs they can pick and choose what they want to,” she says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
