New wave of khadi weaves
Khadi has always been a common man’s fabric, but with the younger generation understanding the versatility of this fabric, khadi has reached the runways. Khadi like many other fabrics can be beautifully incorporated into all current trends.
Right from cropped tops to highly structured jackets, khadi can be used in various ways. Currently khadi is being mixed with subtle textures and earthy colour blends, where mixing drape with structure is also evident. Khadi provides an excellent canvas for both ethnic and Western silhouettes.
The matte look works brilliantly in Western wear and when it is infused with different textures, it provides depth to simple silhouettes.
On the other hand, for ethnic wear the drapes in this fabric work well. It blends well with zari, and other embroidery material.
Khadi picks up colour very well, but it leans toward more earthy colours like browns, maroons, blues etc.
Both Indian and western accessories work well with khadi, depending on the silhouette and look that one aims for. For example, one can use extremely lustrous accessories as contrast to give a more festive look. Otherwise, it can be combined with ethnic jewellery to create a rich royal look.
