The new babe of good times

It’s been more than a year since Angela Johnson shot for the 2011 Kingfisher calender, time in which she has been linked up with everybody from Ranbir Kapoor to Sidhartha Mallya. In her defence though, she is extraordinarily hot, and can’t help but impress everybody she works with. Denying these link-ups, she says, “You know, these rumours about me and Ranbir are so not believable. He is a good friend, but don’t read more into it,” already sounding the clichéd Bollywood line.
But is she interested in taking up Bollywood offers? She certainly is open to the idea of moving from modeling to acting. “It was amazing to win the Kingfisher model hunt, and a new experience which opened many avenues for me. I recently shot an episode where I shared some tips and interacted with the upcoming contestants, which was nice,” she says, adding that she has already started preparing for her dream career.
“I have been preparing for the last year, and have been looking at various scripts. I have been working on my Hindi and also taking language classes. I’m also learning to dance, as I think it’s important to be well-prepared and well-groomed before I take up any acting assignment in Bollywood,” she says, refraining from commenting on the possible offers she has been receiving.
While she doesn’t want to share the details of the offers she received, she knows exactly what she wants to be doing: Roles that have meaning to them, not ones which involve her being a mere prop. “I’ve watched a lot of Hindi films. I love those which are real and edgy. But I’m also a sucker for romance. I want to do films which are the classical romantic types,” she says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
