‘Never give up on your dreams’

Anyone who saw Shanghai will know this actress means business. Scarlett Wilson of the Imported kamariya fame has come a long way from being part of commercials and feature films and is now making it big in tinsel town. In an exclusive with The Asian Age, the pretty actress-model talks about how she has enjoyed the Bollywood stint so far.

Preparing for the Kamariya role
Once I was finalised for the song, I started watching a lot of Bollywood dance numbers to get familiar with the dance moves and expressions. I love Aishwarya Rai and thoroughly followed her dance numbers. I also had four days of rehearsal with my choreographer to master the dance steps.

Dancing her way through...
Shooting for the number imported kamariya was a great experience. As I come from a dancing background, I wasn’t nervous at all. I love the dance moves and it's been great to be a part of this industry so far.

The big break
I am not sure who recommended me to Dibakar. I was called to do a few auditions and eventually was selected for the item number. I remember dancing on Katrina Kaif’s Sheila ki jawaani for the audition.

Being a fashionista
It’s been great working on ads with great actors in the industry. My favourite is Milano with Hrithik Roshan. I have definitely learnt a lot from this industry.

My success mantra
Work hard, don’t lose focus and never give up on your dreams..

The item number factor
I don’t have anything against item songs. I love them. In fact I just finished shooting for a song in Telugu movie Yevadu.

Future projects
You will next see me in the song from Yevadu, which has Ram Charan and Amy Jackson playing the lead.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
