Neetu is a leader
At a time when many actors are turning producers, actress Neetu Chandra has decided to take the plunge as well. While others are concentrating on Hindi cinema, Neetu has forayed into Bhojpuri films with Deswa. The actress is determined to change the image of Bhojpuri cinema with her film, which was always perceived in a negative light.
“I was quite upset about the fact that I can’t sit and watch Bhojpuri films with my family because they are so vulgar. I’ve never seen one with my family. I wanted to change this,” says Neetu, who is from Bihar. “I felt it is my duty and responsibility to change things in Bhojpuri cinema and make a film that is watched by everyone,” she adds. Neetu reveals that because the subject of her film was different, there were very few who supported her in this endeavour.
“The subject of my film is real and that’s why no one supported me. But I’m a leader and not a follower, so I did what I felt was right. I wanted to break the stereotypes in Bhojpuri cinema,” says Neetu.
Although she has started with Bhojpuri films, Neetu is not averse to the idea of producing a Bollywood film in the future. “I will produce a Bollywood film too. My main aim is to make films with great scripts,” she says.
