Nayanthara converts to Hinduism
South Indian actress Nayanthara has this habit of springing up surprises all the time — whether is it to do with her movies or even her personal life. As a first step to cement her union with choreographer-turned-filmmaker Prabhu Deva, a source close to him informs that the actress officially converted into Hinduism on Sunday in Chennai.
The actress flew in from her hometown Kochi on Sunday morning and completed the formalities at the Arya Samaj mandir in Walltax road before she left for home again in the evening. The source also informed that Nayan was very enthusiastic while she was chanting the vedic mantras that are an important part of this procedure and once this was done the actress was issued a certificate to formalise her conversion to Hinduism and she was told that she would henceforth be called ‘Nayanthara’ even officially.
Her real name is Diana Mariam Kurian and she had adopted Nayanthara as her screen name when she made a mark in tinsel town. Sources add that Prabhu and Nayan might tie the knot in a quiet ceremony by the end of this month.
