Narain hooked to Hookah bar

Posing for the cameras, the first Formula One motor-racing driver from India, Narain Karthikeyan seemed to be in a mood to talk about things off the track.

Narain loves to chill out with music. While English numbers are always on his playlist, he likes peppy Bollywood music as well. It seems the Formula One star likes action on screen as well. The last Bollywood film he watched was Ashkay Kumar’s Khiladi 786. “I loved the song, Hookah bar. I have heard it a number of times already. I think this song can lift anyone’s mood,” says Narain, who was in city for the launch of Tata Motors State-of-the-art showroom recently.
Music is a way to unwind for the racer. He says, “Whenever I have some time, music is the first thing I look forward to. I also like to read, and mostly enjoy non-fiction,” smiles Narain.
Though the racer insists that travelling is what he enjoys the most. “I love cars and, of course, love to drive. I don’t have a driver and in Coimbatore, where I live, the roads are so smooth that I can’t help getting behind the wheels,” says Narain, who drives an Indigo Manza most often.
Narain loves the scenic beauty of Ooty. “I think it’s the most beautiful place in India and a short trip to Ooty rejuvenates me,” says Narain, who laughs when asked about his plans for Valentine’s Day. “I don’t really believe in Valentine’s Day but considering my luck, I most probably will be travelling,” smiles Narain.
We believe, cars are surely his first love!

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
