The mystery continues

The bubbly Genelia D’Souza will soon make a return to the silver screen, this time opposite her long time beau Riteish Deshmukh in a film titled Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. But she won’t admit it — the “beau” bit that is. The pair will be seen together after eight long years — their last film together being Tujhe Meri Kasam which released in 2003. Recently, there were some rumours about her wedding with Riteish. When probed on this the actress laughs it off with an incredulous air: “Marriage?” But she quickly adds, “But I am close to Riteish. We both know each other extremely well; I’m the quiet one while he has the gift of the gab.”
With her renewed confidence, post the success of Force, Genelia feels that solo-lead is going to be her forte. She says, “I haven’t done many multi-starrers and from my solo-lead success such as Force and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, I’d like to believe that I carry a film on my shoulders. However, Genelia is of the opinion that the Hindi film industry should adopt start-to-finish schedules for their shoots. “It saves time and money. Moreover it also works for us actors who get a chance to breathe and live the characters they are playing,” she says. The role that is closest to her till date is Aditi of Jaane Tu…. “In most of my film roles I have to push myself to believe that I am the character, because, you see, I am not that spontaneous. That’s the reason Aditi is my favourite because I was playing myself,” says Genelia.
While she gets chatty on other topics, Genelia cleverly refrains from speaking about her marriage. Many industry insiders feel that the couple may go the Abhi-Ash way of declaring their marriage right after their film’s release, (which in their case was Guru).
“But Tere Naal… was not a planned move for either of us,” she says, adding, “The film happened to come to be and I grabbed the opportunity. As far as Riteish is concerned, he had signed the film long before I was on board.”
Genelia may well go on not admitting to her wedding plans, but we cannot help but notice that she hasn’t denied it either. Not even once.

A rage before this Storm

Looks like there is going to be a big irate lull before this “storm.” The Storm Fest scheduled for November 11 and 12 at Coorg has been postponed to January 2012, and this comes just after the heat from the Metallica concert being cancelled in Delhi seemed to be cooling off.
The latest tweets by the Storm Fest organisers warned, “According to the weatherman, Western Ghats will get heavy rain till November 9. Stormfields is adjacent to it, so be prepared to brave the rain.”
Nikhil Chinapa, who was to perform and was also part of the organising team explained, “I can understand how fans are disappointed. We will have a bigger fest in January. November showers are not uncommon. A small road track that leads from the main road to Stormfields, which is 500 metres of mud track is now inaccessible. When Mother Nature comes to play, what do you do?”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
