Mona bids goodbye before Arjun’s launch

The graciousness and postivity that Mona Kapoor’s exuberated was contagious. Despite having a tough life Mona never let the clutter of the past, affect her warm persona. I spoke to her early this year about her big plans for the year ahead.
“The biggest occasion this year will be my son Arjun Kapoor’s launch in Yash Raj films Ishqzaade,” she smiled.
For the past 14 years Mona was struggling to sustain on her own. After her bitter separation with husband Boney Kapoor, the woman decided to walk out with her head held high. “My parents were adamant that I take charge of my own life. They didn’t allow me to crumble. But to start working at that age was tough. When I got married to Boney, I was a celebrity wife. I was married into a famous family and money was never the issue. So, I never harbored any ambitions of making a career. I was happy being a housewife,” she recalled.
But it was after her separation from her husband that Mona struggled to bring up her children Arjun and Anshula Kapoor on her own.
“To start working on a project like Future Studios wasn’t really out of choice. My mother ensured that finances were arranged and my parents-in-law took charge of my kids.”
All throughout and in her last interview she admitted that she didn’t hold any grudges against anyone (read Sridevi). Probably that was the reason for Mona’s calm and composed attitude towards life.
Despite being a successful businesswoman Mona was a doting mother. A few days ago she introduced her star son on a social networking website. Who knew that it would be her last attempt to introduce her ‘promising’ star son to the world of films.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
