Men willing to let wives take charge
In what may seem like a role reversal of sorts, men are happy to take a back seat and look after the house while their wives go out to earn the bread. According to a study carried out by a leading health magazine, 70 per cent of the men are happy cooking and cleaning, while their wives earn the monies.
Relationship expert Rajan Bhosle believes that while the number may be a little exaggerated, couples are taking to this new arrangement. “People are beginning to accept that a stay-at-home husband need not necessarily be a lazy pig living off his wife’s money but can also choose to graciously accept his role as a caretaker of the house. With women climbing up the corporate ladder, this trend is here to stay,” he says.
Satish Balki, 33, a writer by profession, stays home to take of his 5-year-old daughter while his wife, a marketing professional, brings in the income. “My wife’s job certainly contributes more to our family income. It only makes more sense for her to take up her job full time,” he says. It’s not a man’s world after all.
