Measure of a man
So we’ve talked and talked about what men want in women and what women want in men. But it’s not just the opposite sex that becomes the subject of our scrutiny. More often than not, a guy sizes up another dude the moment they meet. So what qualities does he respect or admire? What are the deal makers and breakers?
For celebrity tattoo artist Sameer Patange, it’s a man’s humility that earns him respect. The tattooist, who has inked the likes of Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt, says “I believe that only when you respect the person in front of you, can you expect him to respect you in return. No matter how big a guy may be in his field, he should be grounded enough to treat everyone with respect.”
“Having interacted with a lot of famous pe-rsonalities, I have found that some of them are very down to earth and nothing like their public persona. On the other hand there are those who throw their weight around,” adds Sameer.
While humility is indeed a virtue, confidence in the right measure makes a winner, according to DJ Navdeep Ahuja. “I judge a man by the way he presents himself. How he dresses, walks and talks all add up to make an impression,” says Navdeep. But looking a little deeper, he adds, “Punctuality. When a man shows up on time, I know he means business and I respect that.” As for the one quality that makes him think less of a man, he reveals, “A guy who talks too much. I can’t take him seriously if he loves the sound of his own voice.”
Professional racer Rohit Giri, who has been a national champion multiple times, agrees that men judge others just as much as women do. “We are always judging other guys, right from the word hello. You know what they say about first impressions,” says Rohit. The racer tells us, “In my fraternity, I see guys who win one competition and suddenly be-come too big to give you the time of day. I respect a guy who makes time for people, no matter who he is or what he has achie-ved.” The deal breaker, for this you-ngster, is a man who go-ssips. “I can’t stand guys who talk behind a person’s back.”
So there you have it. A man may not say as much, but now you know how you measure up, so take a cue from these guys.
