MCD’s new interface promises quick fixes
Municipal Corporation of Delhi has made its website more interactive and useful for citizens. So if you hated standing in long queues waiting to pay your property tax, or wanted to complain about an unkempt park, or the availability of beds and blood in MCD’s hospitals then MCD’s website offers many new facilities to hasten the process.
Delhiites are happy to learn about this initiative by MCD and hope it will make things simpler and easier for both MCD and citizens. Sukhbir Singh, professional, is looking forward to a less cumbersome option by logging in. He says, “Not only for citizens, but it will be easier for MCD officials to maintain records and address grievances. Just like IT-returns can be filed online, and has found many takers, I am sure MCD’s efforts to reach out to people who are short on time will reap results.”
The online services segment lists options such as: horticulture schemes, parking management, property tax notices and grievances. Even booking of parks or community halls can be done online. These services will be available throughout the year.
Neha Kapur, professional, was surprised to find that even birth and death certificates can be applied for online. “I had no idea that it could be accessed online. I often heard that it’s a tedious task to get a certificate from MCD. Now the required form can be easily downloaded and submitted. I am sure many like me would be unaware of many such facilities, but it’s nice to know that the website is up-to-date and for every query required personnel can be contacted on the page itself.”
Charu Kalra, HR consultant, adds, “It’s good that MCD is becoming tech savvy. Despite having the busiest of schedules, people find time to access internet. But I hope MCD ensures that all complaints are addressed and resolved as soon as possible.”
