Marriages are made in heaven, but not for KJo

The marriage speculations of the most sought after bachelor of B-town, Karan Johar have been only that, speculations with KJo refusing any alliance with the New York-based girl Vandana Melwani.

“All the stories about my marriage to one Ms Vandana Melwani are false. It is a framed up story by some magazine. I would like to make it clear once and for all that no such girl exists in my life and I am not getting married,” says Karan letting the world know that the news was nothing, but somebody’s figment of imagination.
Karan says he’s better off staying single all his life. “I do not want to get married because I don’t want to lose my independence,” he says, and adds that he’d rather focus on his work, than get into something which he doesn’t believe in.
“I have to do a lot on my professional front. Hence I am not interested in getting married,” adds Karan.
Though it is said that Karan’s mother Hiroo Johar wants his son to settle down in life while he scales new peaks in his career.
So, what does the son think about his mother’s wish? “All moms look forward to their kids getting married. In fact that’s the only thing on their mind. So I am not going to listen to her,” he says though in the same breath Karan lets us know that he’s not an irresponsible son otherwise.
We remind him of his earlier statement when he had said that he’d “hold his mother’s hand and take her to watch the World Cup as she likes cricket and that he also does everything according to her choice.”
Karan clarifies, “I like to listen to my mom sometimes. And when it comes to marriage I want to listen to my heart. So if it is marriage then I would prefer being single forever,” before running away not just from the question of marriage, but also from all the other queries that might be hurled at him after this.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
