Lolo waits for good roles
After a long hiatus, when life seems to be sailing smooth, actress Karishma Kapoor is all geared up to restart her movie career soon. “I have been working since I was 16, but I fully enjoyed this long sabbatical with my family and kids. Being a mother has been the best experience of my life. Motherhood changed my life and made me more responsible and mature as a human being. Now when both my kids have grown up and can take care of themselves, I really want to get back to work again,” shares Karishma, who was in town for a promotional event.
And though Karishma wasn’t shooting for any film, the actress wooed the camera by doing ad films and TV shows. But she doesn’t deny the fact that life in the film industry has become easy for today’s newcomers.
“For us, we have to live up to the reputation of the Kapoor family. To be honest, if today, a newcomer is good-looking, she will get a meaty role, and easily get into the category of a good actress. I must add that the industry is brimming with talent. But this wasn’t the case 20 years ago. So, even now, when I am starting after a long time, it doesn’t make me nervous. As, I have been through many hardships,” she adds.
And age is no bar for the Zubeida actress as she is ready to take on any challenging role. “Although no films have been finalised, I have been reading scripts and I’m open to all kinds of roles and will try to do my best, just like before,” she says. On the kind of films she looking forward to, she quips, “It has to be a light-hearted, entertaining film. Not necessarily emotional, but should have substance and potential.”
Though she did not comment much on the rumours of a tiff between Saif and Kareena, she later quipped that she is really proud of Bebo’s successful career.
“She is right on the top and is getting what she deserved. If a good role comes to us, I would like to work with her as well. I am really happy for her and do not like to intrude much in her personal life,” she adds.
Talking about her fitness mantra as she has shed oodles of weight after her second child, Karishma says that she eats and works out a lot. “I can never compromise on my eating. I’m not among those who will live on juices the whole day. I still enjoy special Chinese food and my all time favourite is rajma chawal. I always say adopt a healthy lifestyle,” she says.
