Little Master scores big with his generous act

Is this not more of a fact that most politicians swoop at freebies and live for the privileges that come their way for being in power? Now, the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, who has been a gentleman throughout his game has begun his political inning by setting an example.
The newest addition to the Rajya Sabha has declined the special bungalow that was allotted to him at posh Tughlaq Road because he didn’t want to waste the taxpayer’s money. Admiring Sachin’s move, fans want that other politicians should take a cue and be big-hearted.
“It takes a lot of money to house our public servants in the capital when they are rich to afford their accommodation. Why can’t they think on similar lines and give up their government accommodation and follow the suit?” asks Faizan Ali, a student and die-hard Sachin fan. “I fail to understand that when the wealth and property of the politicians is no secret, why are they given perks? Government facilities should be need based. While most of them are greedy and won’t say no, some action should be taken by pressure groups,” says Lavanya Lal, 23, a student.
While turning down the bungalow, Sachin had said in a statement, “I’m not keen on blocking a government bungalow because this would be a waste of tax paper’s money as I reside in Mumbai. It would be better if the bungalow is allotted to someone else who needs it more than me.”
Even cyberworld is abuzz with complements for Sachin. Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur tweeted, “Well done Sachin for setting terrific example by refusing bungalow in Delhi.R other rich MP’s listening?”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
