Kokum adds coastal taste to your drink
Kokum sherbet is an exotic popular coastal drink made from the thick extracted juice of kokum, sugar and citrus acid. It is a refreshing, tangy, chilled beverage extremely beneficial during the hot summer days.
Kokum sherbet is also added to many cocktails especially those in Goan bars to give visitors a zesty taste of the region. But with bartenders now looking homeward while experimenting with flavours, Indian bartenders are unanimously favouring this coastal delicacy. Its tangy flavour is ideal for cocktails that traditionally have a tendency to be very sweet. The sour kick of the kokum sherbets cuts through the sweetness and leaves the drinker with a multitude of flavours to handle.
Want to use it in a cocktail at home? Add kokum sherbet to gin, litchi juice and roasted cumin, and watch how refreshed you feel within minutes. You could add some lime juice but go easy on it just in case you over acidify the drink.
