Keep it short, sweet this New Year’s eve
The dipping temperature of the capital is not deterring young girls of the city to drop styles as they are embracing rising hemlines and plunging necklines like never before. Girls are all ready to rock the party with little black dresses and micro-minis ignoring the winter chill.
Shivani Sharma, a college student says that this is one time when everyone is dressed up and in a party mood. “On other occasions like birthday parties or get-togethers, we ‘cover up’ as we know that everyone will be coming from a hectic day, either from college or tuition. But New Year’s eve is a time when everyone is holidaying and has time to choose dresses,” says Shivani, who thinks that this is also the time to wear short dresses and accessorise them with panache to add some razzmatazz.
In fact, some think that ‘decent’ exposure can actually attract friends. “I’m happy that my parents don’t force me to wear those long dresses. No guy will come and talk to you if you wear those,” avers Ritika Singh, a college student, who adds that it’s not that she prefers to expose, but full-length dresses don’t seem to work these days. “For a decent look I prefer shorter hems with tights or leggings,” she says.
Shivangi Suman, a fashion design student, adds, “At a New Year party you really can’t cover-up completely as it looks odd when you are at a party. But pairing a short dress with stockings can work wonders.”
