Kate set for India trip
Supermodel Kate Moss is an enigma for artists and soon she will be mesmerising her Indian fans. Kate is going to visit Delhi in April for an auction of her photographs and sculptures. The collection has been curated by German art collector Gert Elfering, who plans to take the show on a six-city tour around the world — Dubai, Moscow, Barcelona, Hong Kong and will close in London.
The photographs and sculptures on Kate will then be auctioned by Christies.
The exhibition will have 50 photographs and sculptures of Moss done by famous photographers and artists from around the globe including Albert Watson, Nick Knight, Mert and Marcus, Allen Jones, Dino and Jake Chapman.
According to Elfering, Delhi has the strongest art market in India. “We want to take photography and fine art into a market which appreciates it. We are excited about the Indian market and its hunger for art. Delhi surely values its art. That is why we are kickstarting the tour here,” he says.
Prod him about what made him pick Kate as the centre point of this exhibition and he says, “Kate is the ultimate muse for artists. This collection celebrates Kate’s unique spirit that has pushed the boundaries of photography into new borders of fashion and the art world.”
Is he apprehensive about showcasing the collection here? “We have picked specific pieces — mostly photographs and a few sculptures — for India, keeping the culture and sensibilities in mind,” says Mark Adams, CEO, Manricom, co-organiser for the event.
