Kat’s the black magic woman
At times it’s easier to say something in prose than in words; and this never stood truer than in the case of youngsters today. Hence, while someone like a cricketer-commentator Dean Jones, well-known as a person who shoots from his hip, has an entire stadium singing, When you say nothing at all, Katrina Kaif immediately evokes
lines from Sheila ki jawani. So, while reminiscing the past year’s goings-on youngsters have no trouble choosing songs to dedicate some spunky ringtones to their favourite stars and starlets.
The big two from Bollywood — Salman and Katrina, may not be an item together as speculations suggested. But together or not, they still are a hit with youngsters. Tahseen Alam, a mechanical engineer, says, “The title track from Dabangg suits Salman and mirrors his achievements in 2010. He was consistent all through and his film, Dabangg, was the biggest hit of the year.” And those completely smitten by Kat suggest Black magic woman for her. Sidhhant Krishna, computer programmer, says, “She is leagues ahead of her contemporaries and has had a string of hits in 2010. People go crazy in all her public appearances, as if she casts a spell on men. I think Carlos Santana’s Black magic woman is the right song for her.”
Even TV stars aren’t spared by GenY as Priya Kapoor, an instructional designer with Aptech, says, “Considering the havoc she created on her own in Bigg Boss, Dolly Bindra deserves the song Aali re, from the upcoming film, No One Killed Jessica. It has quirky lyrics that suit her perfectly.”
Looking back at the past and looking forward to the year in reckoning, masterblaster, Sachin Tendulkar, happens to be the one who carried the burden of a billion hopes and shall continue doing the same. So, no wonder youngsters shower praises on the little Hercules. Avichal Singh, public relations executive, avers, “The song, We are the champions goes out to Team India, as they remained world beaters throughout the year. But considering that in 2011 we shall host the World Cup with a deserving team, we can dedicate the title track from Lakshya to Sachin Tendulkar. It most probably be his last World Cup, so Lakshya ko har haal me pana hai befits him more than ever.”
