Kasab trends posthumously
After the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, everything about Ajmal Kasab made news. Following his execution yesterday, netizens across the globe have been posting their thoughts. The issue kept trending on Twitter and Facebook through the day and some posts even had shades of grim humour.
One of the comments on Facebook read: “Is Kasab really hanged? Or he died of Dengue & Govt. wants to take credit ahead of 2014 elections..? No announcement, ... Not sure of the truth..”
Another said, “Finally Kasab ka hisaab ho gaya. Can’t help but thank the mosquito who acted as the real arbitrator.”
And it wasn’t just the execution that trended but also the government’s way of handling the Kasab case. The government was under the scanner as some believed Kasab was given unnecessary attention. Abhishek Sinha wrote on his FB wall, “We treated Kasab like a VIP. Gave him media coverage, security, Biryani, and allowed him to jump the queue (of people sentenced for hanging)”.
Another comment by Faraz Salat on Twitter read, “The frail health of #Kasab was a warning to the Govt to hang him before he succumbs to #Dengue.”
The online community didn’t leave the opportunity to take a pot shot at the Indian system.
Another comment read, “Pakistan must learn an important lesson today...India doesn’t need to sacrifice its bravehearts to win a war! Our mosquitos are enough!”
