Justin looks at life with wonder
It’s not a surprise that for someone, who achieved fame and success at an early age, it was challenging to essay the role of a character, who is poor and less fortunate. But American musician and actor Justin Timberlake, who will be seen in upcoming film In Time reveals that the role was challenging, but extremely interesting.
“What really attracted me to this character was the way he explores the human spirit. It was challenging yet great to play someone less fortunate and poor. Also the character possesses the basic human instinct to stay alive no matter what the consequences are. So that was interesting too,” says Justin.
In Time starring actress Amanda Seyfried opposite Justin, has been helmed by Andrew Niccol, and is set in a world where time and not money is the currency. Here people stop ageing at 25. From then on the poor have to buy, beg or borrow minutes and hours in order to stay alive, while the wealthy have enough time to live forever. The film is slated for a November 4 release.
Taking a cue from the story of the film, when asked Justin, what would he do if he ever discovers that he was immortal, the 30-year-old says “I would start by sleeping! No, I don’t know. I think the idea of immortality is actually frightening to me especially because I look back at my younger days as a lot of visual mishaps. I don’t know what I would do if I possessed immortality.”
“It’s definitely a mind trip getting into the idea that it could exist as we see it in the film. My character Will is always moving, always running and it’s mostly because he literally lives day to day. I think I’ve probably spent time moving at a fast pace, so I identify with that,” he says.
Justin, who is known for his songs like Cry Me A River, Sexy Back, My Love, and What Goes Around.. Comes Around among others and his role in films like The Social Network, feels that even when one achieves success in life, desires of doing something more never cease to exist.
“I would like to continue to be inspired and continue to look at life with wonder. There is always something new, maybe directing I don’t know. When I am actually inspired to do something, I have never been shy about doing it. I grew up as an only child and I have always done things on my own. You get this real go-getter instinct without even thinking about it. When you know you want something you just do it the best you can,” he expresses.
