It’s freaky Friday the 13th again!

Youngsters know how to beat Paraskevidekatriaphobia. Yes, you certainly read it right — Paraskevidekatria-phobia is the fear of Friday the 13th. And to ward off the bad luck, many are taking the “right” measures.

For instance, the day is not for making any new purchases for Deeksha Pradhan, 19, who has therefore postponed her shopping to next week. “I had to go shopping with my gang, but we will stay home and watch a movie instead. Not that the world will come to an end or something, but we prefer not to go out today,” she says.
Media professional Beny Sachdeva isn’t spooked by the day, but she says it’s always good to read a religious book or do some charity whenever one’s in a “dilemma”. “For me, the best way to conquer your fear is to think good thoughts. Instead of doing something stupid, like buying charms or visiting a baba or even doing a havan, as my friends have planned, it is best to remember the creator,” says this 25-year-old.
Interestingly, with the release of the Saif Ali Khan-starrer Cocktail today, Homi Adajania has done what “K-possesed” Ekta Kapoor would never have done in her wildest dreams. But astrologer Pandit Sanjay Sharma explains why today is the right day for getting one’s work done.
“13+7 (date and month) is a combination of rahu and ketu and it can’t be a bad day. In fact, it’s a day that brings peace of mind and work that has been long delayed will get done today,” he says.
All we can say is — have a good day!

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
